    Turkish foreign trade deficit registers 135.5 percent surge in Feb.

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish statistical authority announcement released on Thursday, the country’s foreign trade deficit hit USD7.9 billion the previous month.

    Based on TurkStat statement, the gap expanded a lot by 135.5 percent from the same month of the past year because of an increase in the costs of energy which includes around one-third of the Turkish imports.

    Turkish exports grew 25.4 percent on an annual basis to just more than USD20 billion in the mentioned month, whereas imports rocketed 44.5 percent to hit USD27.9 billion.

    The export-to-import coverage rate surged to 82.7 percent the previous month, in comparison to 71.7 percent recorded last year. This February, the nation's major exchanging country Germany got Turkish exports valued at USD1.8 billion.
