Indian antitrust regulator: Indian food delivery unicorns face antitrust investigation
(MENAFN) According to Indian’s antitrust regulator, two Indian food delivery unicorns are being probed for suspected unfair business practices.
Zomato and Swiggy lead the fast-growing market in India with a combined stock of 95 percent.
The order to probe the companies was months following the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) filed a complaint.
The firms did not remark on the probe.
But, the companies had reportedly rejected the allegation after the NRAI filed the complaint to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in July 2021.
The NRAI, which signifies over 500,000 restaurants in India, had called for the CCI to research both firms for allegedly offering priority to some restaurants.
