Lebanese banks prepare strike in reply to legal commands

(MENAFN) Lebanese banks prepare a couple of days strike next week in protest at legal movements on seven main financiers, a standoff that jeopardies more unsteadiness for a nation hindered in crisis for the last 3 years.

The banking relationship stated that the strike was a cautioning on what it named "the arbitrariness of some judicial decisions" - an orientation to instructions that have banned the moneys of seven banks since the 14th of last month and stopped six of their administrators from travel.

Premier Najib Mikati stated that movements taken by some judges were increasing stresses and he had requested the public prosecutor to "take appropriate measures".

Lebanon's banks have been paralyzed since the economic scheme distorted 3 years ago due to the pressure of huge public debts piled on for decades of state dishonesty and waste, locking investors out of their savings, even though it is Lebanon's biggest threatening catastrophe since the 1975-90 civil conflict.
