    Turkish shares open week with increases

    (MENAFN) Turkey’s main stock index started at 2,619.81 points on Monday, earning 18.56 points, or 0.71 percent, from the prior end.

    At Friday's end, Borsa Istanbul closed the week at 2,601.25 points with a day-to-day decline of 0.01 percent but registered a peak weekly ending, with a day-to-day exchange capacity of 38.5 billion Turkish liras (USD2.3 billion).

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trading rate reached 16.5613 at 10.00 AM regional time (0700GMT) increasing 0.55 percent from Friday’s end.

    The euro/lira trading rate stood at 17.7768 for a day-to-day increase of 1.1 percent, whereas a British pound exchanged for 20.7274 liras -- a 1.26 percent rise.

    Brent crude oil was exchanging nearly USD120.25 a barrel with a 0.43 percent surge after Saudi Arabia's raise in costs for crude oil sales for next month.

    The nation surged its price from USD4.40 to USD6.50 in oil sales to Asia.
