    Iran’s copper cathode shipping rises 116pct

    (MENAFN) Omid Qalibaf, the orator of Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry, declared that the worth of Iran’s export of copper cathode increased 116 percent throughout the previous Iranian calendar year 1400 (ended on March 20), against its year before.

    Moreover, the manufacture of copper cathode in Iran has increased 2.8 percent in the last year, Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry has mentioned in reports.

    According to what’s reported, the nation outputted 299,000 tons of the product in the last year.

    In the beginning of May, chief of Iran Copper organization Bahram Shakouri stated that the nation will rise its copper cathode output from the present 300,000 tons to one million tons by the next 3 years.

    Shakouri stated that “Although less than 300,000 tons of copper cathodes are currently produced in the country, with the development of reserves and more exploration and extraction, the production of one million tons of the product is projected by 1404.”

    He also highlighted that “For the 1404 horizon, production of 800,000 tons of copper is targeted, and if we develop mineral reserves and expand exploration operations while creating more processing plants, the production ceiling of one million tons of copper cathode can be considered for the mentioned year.”

    Noting the worldwide target for copper output in 2050, the official also stated that "According to forecasts, copper production in the world by 2050 should reach four times the current level which is over 1.8 million tons.”
