Natural gas imports in Turkey decline 13.9pct in April
(MENAFN) Turkey’s natural gas imports dropped by 13.9 percent in April this year against April of last year, as shown by data from Turkey’s energy watchdog on Tuesday.
Natural gas imports valued at nearly 4.06 billion cubic meters (bcm) from nearly 4.72 bcm for the same month of last year, Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) stated in its month-to-month natural gas market report.
EMRA's data presented that the nation imported 3.45 bcm of natural gas through pipelines in the stated month, whereas 613 million cubic meter was bought as LNG, recording a drop of 16.7 percent in pipeline imports and a surge of 6.14 percent in LNG imports.
Russia provided the most gas to Turkey at 1.88 bcm, whereas Iran and Azerbaijan where just behind with 837 million cubic meters (mcm) and 733 mcm, individually.
Gas imports from Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan declined by 24.9 percent, 3.41 percent and 4.83 percent individually in April versus the same month in 2021.
The nation's entire gas intake also dropped by 6.59 percent to nearly 5.13 bcm against the same period in 2021.
