    Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul opens Wednesday higher

    (MENAFN) Türkiye's main share index started at 2,492.58 points on Wednesday, rising 0.09 percent, or 2.38 points, from the prior end.

    Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index witnessed a drop of 1.54 percent to end at 2,490.24 points on Tuesday, with a day-to-day exchange volume of 36.1 billion Turkish liras (USD2.2 billion).

    The best exchange volumes were recorded by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, glassmaker Sise Cam as well as steel producer Eregli.

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trading price increased to 16.6720 at 09.45 AM regional time (0645GMT), from 16.6310 at the prior end.

    The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 17.4925 from 17.4800, whereas a British pound exchanged for 20.3033 Turkish liras, declining from 20.3620 at the close before.

    Brent crude oil was traded for nearly USD113.14 a barrel, whereas the rate of an ounce of gold stood at USD1,817.40.
