Report: Turkish Airlines 'biggest winner' as worldwide travel, aviation picks up
(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines has been the “biggest winner” as worldwide aviation and tourism picks up once more after the abrupt stoppage brought around by the COVID-19 epidemic, as reported by a French financial newspaper.
The Turkish flag carrier became the initial international firm to come back to profit last year as European air traffic regained and is on course for highest earnings in this year, mentioned a report issued this week by Los Echos.
The airline had a net revenue of USD737 million by the first 6-month mark in this year.
Just in July, Turkish Airlines traveled 7.8 million passengers, 10 percent higher than the same month 3 years ago, the main travel month of the last pre-epidemic summer.
It is the liveliest traditional airline in Europe today, with an average of 1,506 day-to-day flights in European airspace at the start of August, ahead by good margin from Lufthansa (1,202) as well as Air France (1,065), the report mentioned, quoting data from the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).
