    Turkish consumer confidence surges 6.1 percent this month

    (MENAFN) Türkiye's consumer confidence recorded a 6.1 percent increase in August, in line with the most recent numbers issued on Tuesday.

    From 68 last month, the consumer confidence index surged to 72.2 in August, statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) presented.

    The index is a vital gauge of the economy's overall situation, showing consumer sentiments on economic standings as well as the overall position of the economy, accompanied by expenditure and saving tendencies.

    The economic situation of households, at present, went 16 percent higher to 53.8 this month.

    In the meantime, the index for the assessment of spending money on durable goods throughout the next 12 months, saw a decrease of 2.4 percent to 89.8.

    The overall financial situation estimates index surged the most, by 2.7 percent, to 72.8, whereas the economic situation estimates of households throughout the next 12 months jumped 7.5 percent to 72.2.

    The consumer confidence index is calculated from survey outcomes and evaluated within a range of 0-200, showing a positive viewpoint when the reading is more than 100 and a negative one when it is under that level.
