Saudi Arabia's worldwide passenger traffic boosts in H1
(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia's worldwide passenger traffic higher than tripled in the first 6 months of this year as the nation soften travel limits, hosted Umrah pilgrims as well as promoted from a gradual regain in request for long-haul travel.
The figure of international passengers via the nation’s airports surged to 16.6 million in the opening six months of 2022, jumping from 4.5 million in the same span of time of last year, Mohammed Alkhuraisi, vice leader of strategy at the General Authority for Civil Aviation (Gaca), informed The National.
He stated that international traffic has regained to nearly 70 percent of pre-epidemic rates in 2019.
Mr Alkhuraisi stated that "The Saudi aviation sector is growing in an unprecedented manner," adding, "It's a great signal on the progress we're making on our aviation targets."
The nation's Saudi Aviation Strategy calls for tripling yearly passenger traffic to 330 million within the end of the decade, surging the amount of destinations to 250 from 99 at present as well as creating a new flag carrier.
This plan is supported by USD100 billion in investments from the administration and private sector.
