Turkish airports witness 118.6M travelers in first 8 months
(MENAFN) Turkish airports witnessed 118.6 million travelers in the 8 months since the beginning of the year, the nation’s air travel authority declared on Thursday.
The eight-month figure climbed 56.9 percent in comparison with the last year, as shown by data issued by the State Airports Authority General Directorate.
Almost 52.2 million travelers took local flights in the January-August period of 2022, and an amount of 66.2 million flew via international flights.
Turkey’s airports served over 1.2 million planes counting in overflights from the stated period, of which 520,313 on local routes as well as 456,071 on international routes.
The executive also stated that cargo traffic reached 2.65 million tons in the January-August period, jumping 22.6 percent Annually.
Turkey’s highest demanding Istanbul Airport received at least 41.1 million travelers on both international and domestic routes and served 273,687 airplanes in the mentioned period.
Antalya Airport cam second in the Turkish Mediterranean resort city with 20.4 million travelers next to it was Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport on the city's Anatolian side, which witnessed 19.7 million air travelers.
