GASTAT: Saudi unemployment level declines to 9.7 percent in April-June
(MENAFN) The unemployment level for Saudi Arabia citizens declined to stand at 9.7 percent in the April-June period of this year driven by administration improvements directed at the labor market, as shown by figures issued by the General Authority for Statistics.
Moreover, the level has declined 0.4 percentage points in comparison with the January-March period of this year.
This arises as the labor force contribution level of Saudis surged by 1.7 percentage points to stand at 51.8 percent, and the employment-to-population percentage of Saudis jumped 1.7 percentage points, standing at 46.8 percent in comparison with 2021, the GASTAT report also showed.
The unemployment level between Saudi males dropped to stand at 4.7 percent, falling by 0.3 percentage points from the January-March period of this year.
GASTAT mentioned in its report that “The decrease in the unemployment rate of Saudi males this quarter coincided with both an expansion of labor market participation and employment growth, where the participation rate went up by 1.5 percentage points to 67.5 percent and the employment-to-population ratio increased by 1.6 percentage points reaching 64.3 percent.”
