    Turkey’s shipments reach USD22.6B last month

    (MENAFN) Turkey’s shipments amounted to USD22.6 billion as of last month, seeing a surge of 9.2 percent from the same month in 2021, according to what was shown by preliminary figures issued by the Trade Ministry on Tuesday.

    The nation's imports climbed 41.5 percent to USD33 billion in the same time span.

    This September, the export-import coverage ratio stood at 68.5 percent, in comparison to 88.5 percent in the stated month of last year.

    The foreign exchange shortage almost four-folded on a yearly basis, reaching an amount of USD10.4 billion as of September.

    In the January to September period of this year, Turkish shipments rose 17.1 percent from 2021 to stand at USD188.2 billion, as shown by the preliminary reading.

    Imports experienced a jump of 40.8 percent on a yearly basis to USD272 billion in the first 9 months of this year, getting the exchange gap to USD83.8 billion which witnessed a climb of 158.5 percent.
