    Turkish consumer confidence rises 5.3 percent this month

    (MENAFN) Turkey’s consumer confidence climbed 5.3 percent on a monthly basis in October, as shown by the most recent official numbers issued on Friday.

    The consumer confidence index surged to 76.2 in October, increasing from 72.4 in the month before, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) indicated.

    The index is an important gauge of the economy's whole situation, measuring consumer sentiments on economic standings as well as the general state of the economy, in keeping with expenditure and saving tendencies.

    All sub-indices recorded rises in the month, whereas the economic situation of households, currently, went 8.4 percent higher to stand at 57.5.

    In the meantime, the index for the calculation of spending money on durable goods throughout the upcoming 12 months surged by 2.3 percent to reach 93.1.

    The general financial situation expectation index rose 5.3 percent to 77.9, whereas the economic situation expectation of households during the upcoming 12 months was 6.7 percent higher to reach 76.2.
