Tehran, Astana will sign MOU about cooperative in transportation sector

(MENAFN) Iran and Kazakhstan have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance cooperation in the transportation and transit sectors, according to Iranian Minister of Transport and Urban Development Rostam Qasemi, IRIB reported.

Qasemi made the comments after a meeting with Zhumangarin Serik, the Republic of Kazakhstan's deputy prime minister and minister of trade and integration, on Monday in Tehran.

The minister claims that the MOU involves cooperation in a number of areas, such as streamlined customs, tariff parity, and simplified visa processing for Iranian businesspeople and drivers.

In reference to the recent visit of the trade minister of Kazakhstan to the port of Shahid Rajaei in Iran, Qasemi declared: "Kazakhstan is going to cooperate with Iran in rail, road, sea and air transportation and cargo transfer through the North-South and East-West corridors." Kazakhstan is considering building an export facility in southern Iran.

Zhumangarin Serik had claimed that his nation sought to collaborate with Iran in the establishment of an export terminal in the southern Bandar Abbas Port of the Islamic Republic before meeting Qasemi.
