    CAPA awards Turkish Airlines with sustainability award for innovative efforts for sustainability

    (MENAFN) Turkish Airlines has been awarded with the Airline Sustainability Innovation of the Year prize by Centre for Aviation (CAPA) for its advanced attempts for sustainability.

    As mentioned in an announcement from the national flag carrier on Friday, the airline was awarded for improving the Microalgae Based Sustainable Bio-Jet Fuel Project (MICRO-JET), in which it operated carefully with experts to improve the first carbon negative sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across the world.

    The MICRO-Jet venture, carried out with Istanbul’s high-status Bogazici University, targeted to manufacture biofuels from microalgae utilizing hydro-processed fatty acids as well as hydrothermal liquefaction procedures.

    Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines head investment and technology officer, mentioned that “As the airline that flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, we appreciate the sustainable aviation fuel as a key element in our sustainability strategy on reducing aviation's environmental impact.”

    Konukcu also mentioned that the firm is dedicated to carry on its investment as well as backing for sustainable air travel fuels and concentrate on the upcoming condition of the world.
