    Energy minister: Saudi oil giant Aramco finds 2 new gas fields in eastern district

    (MENAFN) Saudi oil giant Aramco has found two additional natural gas fields in the nation’s eastern district, Saudi Arabia's energy minister declared on Wednesday.

    The most recent discoveries are going to cause a noteworthy impact to the nation’s energy plans and is going to also reinforce the country’s natural gas reserves, state news agency SPA quoted Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman as stating.

    The initial discovery, the Awtad natural gas area, was established southwest of the Ghawar location, 142 kilometers (88 miles) southwest of the town of Hofuf.

    The additional discovery, Al-Dahna, is sited 230 kilometers (143 miles) southwest of the town of Dhahran.

    In the meantime, Saudi Arabia inked a deal to buy five warships from Navantia, a Spanish state-possessed shipbuilding firm.

    The inking ceremony in the capital Riyadh was joined by Spain’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Reyes Maroto, Saudi Arabia's Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari in addition to Navantia Chairman Ricardo Dominguez.
