Iran’s Petrochemical production increases 7 percent in 8 months YoY

(MENAFN) Petrochemical output has surged seven percent in Iran throughout the initial eight months of the ongoing Iranian calendar year (March 21-November 21, 2022), in comparison with the same time span in the last year, as shown by an official in the National Petrochemical Company (NPC).

Bijan Chegeni, the NPC’s head for output control, recorded the eight-month petrochemical production at 47 million tons, and underlined that the petrochemical plants functioned at 71 percent of their optimum volume throughout this time span, as reported by IRNA.

In the stated eight months, 2.5 million tons of aromatics, 5.4 million tons of polymer materials, 5.6 million tons of fertilizers as well as associated materials, 14.1 million tons of hydrocarbon materials, and 19.5 million tons of basic and chemical materials were manufactured by the nation’s petrochemical industry, as said by the official.

The petrochemical sector holds a vital role in Iran’s non-oil economy, as petrochemical shipment is the second-biggest source of income for the nation following crude oil.
