    FAO: Iran between leading agro-food exporters worldwide in 2021

    (MENAFN) According to the figures issued by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Iran has been between the main exporters of agricultural outputs in the world throughout 2021, IRNA mentioned in report.

    Iran was the glob’s leading exporter of figs in the stated year, shipping 8,763 tons of the outputs in the stated year. Austria and Spain occupied the second and third places, individually.

    The Islamic Republic was also the glob’s second-largest pistachio shipper in the year under study following the U.S. The nation shipped 136,000 tons of pistachios to foreign destinations in the stated year.

    Iran was also classified second in terms of the shipments of raisins as well as eggplant, based on the FAO statistics. The nation comes in the third place in the world in the shipment of watermelon as well as gooseberry.

    In 2021, Iranian farmers shipped over 245,000 tons of dates, which was lower than the shipments of only three nations. Saudi Arabia ranked on top in terms of the shipment of dates with 318,000 tons, then came Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
