Cavusoglu assures Turkey will continue to make ECO "more effective"
(MENAFN) Turkey is going to carry on to do its role to make the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) "more effective," as stated by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu Tuesday.
Cavusoglu asserted at the 26th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers in the Uzbek capital city Tashkent that "Turkey will continue to do its part to make the ECO more effective and attain its true share in the world economy. We know that this is an ambitious goal."
Cavusoglu added that with a powerful determination, the organization's associates are going to reinforce it against the present obstacles facing worldwide environment.
The ECO is a political and financial intergovernmental organization established by Turkey, Pakistan and Iran in nearly 4 decades ago (1985) to serve as a platform to talk about and grow development and support exchange and funding prospects. It has seven additional associates: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan in addition to Uzbekistan.
"Today, the global economy faces major challenges. Food and energy prices are constantly rising. There are disruptions and changes in global supply chains. Global economic growth has not fully recovered. To overcome these challenges, we should accelerate our economic cooperation," Cavusoglu added.
