    Turkey’s shipments reach record peak in January

    (MENAFN) Turkey’s shipment recorded an all-time peak in January reaching an amount of USD19.4 billion, the nation’s trade minister stated on Thursday.

    Outbound export increased 10.4 percent from the same month of 2022, Mehmet Mus informed a news meeting on Turkey’s preliminary foreign exchange figures.

    Because of increasing energy and commodity costs, Turkish shipments rose to 21 percent on a yearly basis to stand at USD33.7 billion last month, counting in over one-quarter of this number in energy, Mus stated.

    For example, the worth of exchange among Iran and Turkey amounted to USD6.42 billion last year, whereas the number reached an amount of USD5.59 billion in the year before.

    Türkiye's energy shipment into nation reached USD8.8 billion last month, climbing 238 percent from 2021.

    Mus highlighted that peak gold request also played a massive part to Turkey’s overall imports, as the nation compensated USD5.1 billion for the precious metal.

    The nation's foreign exchange shortage amounted to USD14.3 billion in January.
