S&P Global top official assures Saudi vital role in whole energy industry

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia is not only an oil-producing nation, but also a conclusive part in the whole energy industry, as the nation holds the 44th meeting of the International Association for Energy Economics for the initial time in the Middle East and North Africa area in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as stated by a chief specialist in the industry.

In an exclusive meeting with Arab News on the offshoots of the meeting, Daniel Yergin, vice head of S&P Global asserted that Saudi Arabia is going to carry on to have a vital part in the two traditional energy industries and renewables.

“This conference is very important for the region and for Saudi Arabia. It underscores the fact that Saudi Arabia is not just a country for oil, but it is a country for energy, and Saudi Arabia’s role in energy transition as it continues to supply the oil the world needs,” according to Yergin.

He continued: “Saudi Arabia is going to continue to be at the forefront as an oil producer. But also what you see in Saudi Arabia is much more use of renewables, particularly, solar for generating electricity."
