In province of Ardebil, 85 percent of honey is exported
(MENAFN) According to a provincial official, the northwest Iranian province of Ardebil exports 85 percent of its honey to other regions and surrounding nations.
The chairman of the province's agriculture department, Nader Taqizadeh, claimed that production in accordance with climatic factors, a variety of pastures, and plant types have given Ardebil the chance to excel in the nation's and even the world's honey industries.
"This amount of production is nine times the annual consumption of Ardebil province, and only 15 percent of this product meets the needs of the people of the province, with 85 percent going to other provinces," he said, referring to the 9,000 tons of high-quality honey produced in this province under the Sabalan brand.
"Sabalan honey is shipped in 20 varieties of packaging with premium quality to neighboring nations, notably the Persian Gulf littoral states, where many clients desire to buy this sort of honey," the official recalled the range of exports with various brands and packaging.
