    Iran’s South Azadegan oilfield expands with estimated oil reserve of 25.34 billion barrels

    (MENAFN) South Azadegan oilfield is located 80 kilometers west of Ahvaz (the capital city of Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province), close to the Iraqi border.

    The oil reserves in this area are forecasted to be nearly 25.34 billion barrels, and the recoverable oil is expected to be nearly 1.7 billion barrels, taking into account the regain factor of 6.6 percent.

    The improvement action of the South Azadegan oilfield is operated in the form of two improvement stages, that in line with the aiming, the output in this sector is supposed to amount to 600,000 barrels a day.

    South Azadegan is one of the five main oilfields Iran stakes with Iraq at the western part of Iran’s Karoun area, known as West Karoun sectors.

    West Karoun hosts massive significance for the nation’s oil sector since in line with the most recent studies, its in-situ deposit is forecasted to be 67 billion barrels covering the two light and heavy crude oils, and hence it might have a big effect on Iran’s oil production surge in the future.
