Bahrain airport’s welcomes 6.9 million travelers in 2022, marking 125 percent rise
(MENAFN) Bahrain International Airport greeted 6.9 million passengers last year, indicating a rise of 125 percent from 3 million on a yearly basis, the Bahrain News Agency mentioned in a report.
On the other hand, the amount of passengers welcomed throughout last year is still 29 percent lower than the pre-pandemic traffic of 9.6 million in 2019.
Bahrain Airport Co.’s Airport Facilitation Committee on Wednesday revealed these numbers at a gathering to study the operational factors of the facility, which studied passengers, crew, as well as baggage action at the BIA.
The cargo tonnage rose by 17 percent to stand at 379,000 tons last year from 324,000 tons in the year before.
“We can all be proud of how well our airport performed last year as we came closer to reaching pre-pandemic figures. This data points to an even stronger recovery in 2023, and with passenger traffic on the rise, we are fully prepared to meet the needs of BIA’s guests,” BAC chief executive Mohamed Yousif Al-Binfalah was recited as stating.
