(MENAFN) The Iranian parliament held its 16th session to review the national budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year on Saturday. The session was held to discuss a report presented by the parliament's ad hoc budget review committee, as reported by Mehr News Agency.

The parliament had previously approved the general outlines of the national budget bill for the next Iranian year in late January. During an open session, 169 out of 235 present MPs voted in favor of the bill, approving its generalities. The Talfiaq Committee, which consists of MPs from different committees, had earlier approved the general policies of the bill.

President Ebrahim Raisi submitted the administration’s draft of the national budget bill to the parliament on January 11. In the budget bill, the president emphasized stable economic growth, people’s livelihood, observing justice, and efficiency of the government system as the main approaches. Raisi also mentioned that the establishment of a progress and justice fund in all provinces is foreseen so that the development credits of the provinces are paid systematically.

The budget bill for the next year aims to reform the budget structure, create transparency, attract governmental and private sector investments for completing semi-finished projects, and implement the government's integrated financial management system.

The president also highlighted the importance of the Seventh National Development Plan (2022-2026) and included its main points in the budget bill. The budget bill will establish a progress and justice fund in all provinces to systematically pay development credits.

The Iranian government is looking to prioritize economic stability and the public’s welfare in the upcoming year. The budget bill aims to reform the budget structure and create transparency while attracting both governmental and private sector investments for completing semi-finished projects.
