Saudi ports register nearly 8 percent surge in container traffic in February: Mawani
(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia’s ports saw a 7.76 percent rise in container traffic in February this year, supervising 622,837 twenty-foot equivalent units in comparison with the same month in 2022, according to the most recent data issued by the Saudi Ports Authority, also known as Mawani.
Containerized cargo through the nation’s exchange centers sustained its upward swing, surging to 622,837 TEUs in comparison with 577,993 TEUs in the prior year.
The figures showed a 12.75 percent rise in shipped boxes standing at 194,157 TEUs, in comparison with 172,208 TEUs last year.
Imported containers reached an amount of 193,937 TEUs, a 5.95 percent rise relative to 2022’s 183,051 TEUs.
Transshipments also went slightly higher by 5.39 percent to reach 193,937 TEUs versus the prior year’s tally of 183,051 TEUs.
On the other hand, non-containerized cargo witnessed a 3.13 percent fall to reach 23,089,455 tons in 2023 from 23,835,826 tons in February last year.
