Saudi Tourism Authority, China's Vice Minister of Culture, Tourism Discuss Strategic Collaborations

(MENAFN) The CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Fahd Hamidaddin, recently held a meeting with China's Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Rao Quan, to explore ways to enhance strategic collaborations in the tourism sector. The meeting was held as part of the Kingdom's efforts to attract over 4 million Chinese tourists by 2030. The officials discussed the general terms of a Memorandum of Understanding to support this target and agreed to introduce joint tourism initiatives to develop human capacities working within the sector.

The Saudi Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, was also present during the meeting as officials discussed bilateral cooperation prospects in the sector. The meeting also looked at ways to pave the way for a unified vision as well as efforts through relevant global organizations and associations. Additionally, the officials reflected on the outcomes of China's President Xi Jinping's visit to the Kingdom in December 2022.

The Saudi Tourism Authority has been conducting a promotional tour in collaboration with its partners from the Saudi tourism sector in China to showcase tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia and build partnerships between the tourism sectors of both countries. The tour started in Beijing, then moved to Shanghai, and finally Guangzhou.

Earlier this month, the Saudi Tourism Authority participated in the world's largest trade fair for the industry, ITB Berlin, where they completed a successful three-day event. Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Saudi Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Authority's Board of Directors, opened the Saudi pavilion at the fair, which received a number of presidents, ministers, leaders, and other key officials. Al-Khateeb also met with officials of major commercial bodies such as TUI Group and FTI Consulting, in addition to leaders of the UN World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council.

The Saudi Tourism Authority is working in partnership with the private sector to develop, promote, and distribute packages and products. The authority also participates in tourism events, exhibitions, trade shows, and roadshows both locally and globally to measure the tourist experience and suggest ways to enhance it to the relevant stakeholders.

The meeting between the Saudi Tourism Authority's CEO and China's Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism highlights the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen its tourism sector and attract more Chinese tourists. The joint initiatives agreed upon by both sides are expected to enhance the human capacities working within the sector and promote bilateral cooperation in the tourism industry. The Saudi Tourism Authority's participation in ITB Berlin and other tourism events demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the tourist experience and building partnerships with key players in the industry.
