Havelsan Plans to Introduce "Digital Troops" for Joint Military Operations
(MENAFN) Havelsan, a defense firm in Turkey, is planning to introduce "digital troops" that integrate Turkish-made unmanned aerial, land, and surface vehicles under the umbrella of autonomous robotic systems for joint military operations. The goal is to have these troops take on the field this year. Havelsan General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar spoke to Anadolu and said that examples of digital troop concepts would be revealed this year.
Nacar stated that it was time for the unmanned ground vehicle Barkan, unmanned aerial vehicle Baha, and unmanned surface vehicle Sancar to show how they would work as a component of the digital troop on the field, with the "single soldier" positioned in a troop. He added that infrastructure works are still continuing. The firm's unmanned ground vehicle, called Barkan, will play a role in joint robotic operations with other unmanned platforms.
Nacar stressed that Havelsan has further developed the future of the Barkan unmanned ground vehicle and started its production. Once tests are completed, the company will start mass production in the first half of this year. The Barkan UGV has a variety of features, including a modular chassis, a hybrid engine, a 360-degree camera system, an advanced communication system, and advanced control and mission planning software. It can be used for various purposes, such as reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition.
The autonomous sub-cloud UAV called Havelsan B-30 can perform joint operations with all unmanned systems, has vertical landing and take-off capability, fully autonomous mission capability, modular architecture that allows the integration of different payloads, and other superior features. Havelsan's unmanned surface vehicle, Sancar, has an advanced communication system, a high-resolution camera system, and a modular architecture. It can be used for various purposes, such as surveillance, reconnaissance, and mine hunting.
The introduction of "digital troops" is a significant development for the Turkish defense industry, as it increases the country's capabilities for joint military operations. It also demonstrates Havelsan's commitment to innovation and technological advancement in the field of defense.
