    Drop of USD23 billion on Turkish Treasury's cash balance

    (MENAFN) According to official data, the Turkish Treasury's cash balance posted a drop of about USD23 billion in 2019.


    Last year, the Treasury's cash profits amounted to USD 157.9 billion, an increase of 16 percent from 2018; including interest payments of USD17.3 billion, expenditures increased 21 percent yearly to reach USD181.3 billion in 2019.


    Non-interest expenditures totaled almost USD164.5 billion, marking a USD6.6 billion gap in the key balance.


    In 2019, the average U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate this year was around 5.68 as 1 dollar was traded for 4.82 Turkish liras on average in 2018; in 2018, the Treasury posted a decrease of almost USD14.6 billion in cash balance.
