    Sudan: boosting environmental audit in oil-producing regions

    (MENAFN) On Friday, South Sudan released a road map to improve environmental audit in oil-producing regions by calling a kind offer from competent foreign firms in order to control pollution and address public uproar over poor waste management.


    The government will improve environmental audit before oil exploration and drilling also, understanding the pollution damage will allow the country to start systems to avoid more damage as the young nation looks to increase production, as said by Awow Daniel Chuang, minister of petroleum.


    According to a statement by Chuang, "tender pre-qualification documents for conducting a full environmental audit will be available during office hours at the Ministry of Petroleum's headquarters in Juba, and from its website. The documentation will be available from Jan. 13-20".


    He added, a global independent organization will now be selected to do the audit, mandated to suggest best practices for new exploration and ways to mend the historical damage in Sudan.
