(MENAFN) According to Turkey's statistical authority on Friday, in October 2019, Turkey's unemployment reached 13.4 percent; the October figure showed a yearly increase of 1.8 percentage points, as said by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

TurkStat said that, "the number of unemployed persons aged 15+ increased by 608,000 to 4.39 million persons in the period of October 2019 in Turkey compared with the same period of the previous year".

Non-agricultural unemployment rate reached 15.7 percent, showing a 2.1 percent increase yearly; the unemployment rate for young people aged 15-24 climbed 3 percent to 25.3 percent in the same period.

The figure for unemployed people aged 15-64, increased 1.8 percent to 13.7 percent in the month on an annual basis; in October, the number of people employed decreased to 28.34 million down 527,000 from the same month of previous year, representing a 45.9 percent employment rate in the country.
