    New sultan of Oman hosts Turkey's Vice President on Sunday

    (MENAFN)A presidential source said on Saturday that Turkey's Vice President Fuat Oktay will visit Oman on Sunday to extend condolences over the death of longtime ruler Qaboos bin Said Al Said. The source included that the new sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq al-Said, will receive the Turkish visit of condolences over the previous ruler in the city of Muscat.Due to a fatal long-term battle with disease,the 79-year-old Qaboos passed away on Friday.In honor of the sultan's death, Omani authorities announced a three-day national mourning with flags to be flown at half-mast for 40 day.Representing the longest-serving monarch among the recent Arab rulers, Qaboos ruled Oman since 1970 being the eighth of the royal House of Al-Said.Modernizing his country, using the oil money to build roads and hospitals and develop road and rail network, are examples not limited to the attributions of Qaboos to Oman.
