(MENAFN)In an exclusive meeting with Iran Daily, a member of Iran Pistachio Association (IPA) said that profits of pistachio exports are estimated to rise by USD 2 billion year-on-year.

The prediction made by Mansour Abbasian based on the trend of pistachio exports since the beginning of Iranian calendar year" March 2019".

Iran's pistachio production reached at 220.00 tons during October 2018-October 2019 (Iran's agricultural year) representing an annual growth by four times, and during the preceding 12-month period the figure stopped at 60,000 tons, according to Abbasian.

Expressing the causes of the production growth, he stated that, "The year has been an on year. However, its preceding one was an off year as severe cold had caused pistachio trees in Iran to freeze and, thus, produce lower yield".
