New trade channels between Turkey, UK

(MENAFN) Turkey's Trade Ministry is looking for new trade channels with the U.K. in the Brexit transition period, as it said; Brexit negotiations among the EU and the U.K. ended on November 14, 2018, and a agreement was made on the withdrawal of the deal, which happened on January 31, 2020.

The transition period is estimated to end on December 31, 2020 after the U.K. officially left the EU

According to a statement by the ministry, "during this period, the U.K. will be treated as an EU member country in terms of trade, thereby maintaining its position as a Customs Union partner for our country within the same period," it added that, "during the transition period, a new trade agreement would be negotiated between the U.K. and EU to shape future relations".

Turkey would start discussion with the U.K. for a bilateral free trade agreement through recent structures, as said by the ministry.
