    Unemployment rate grows slightly in Palestine

    Based on a survey released on Thursday, Palestine saw a year-on-year minor growth in the unemployment rate, recording 25 percent by the end of 2018.

    The country recorded an unemployment rate of 15 percent and 45 percent in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, respectively, with an overall average of 21 percent for male unemployment, compared with 41 percent for females, according to Palestinian Labour Force Survey published by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

    As for young people who hold associate diploma certificate and above and whose ages range between 19 and 29, the unemployment rate amounted to 52 percent, with 35 percent for males and 68 percent for females, the survey added.

    The report showed that the service sector, including industries of telecommunications, education and health, acts as the tycoon employer in the Palestinian market.
