    Turkey's banking sector posts net income of USD1.33 billion

    (MENAFN) Turkey's banking watchdog said on Monday that, in January, Turkey's banking sector posted a net income of USD1.33 billion.


    According to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency data, in January 2020, the figure increased 147 percent yearly from USD615 million from January 2019.


    Total assets of the sector amounted to USD760.7 billion, an increase of 17.3 percent from January 2018; total banking sector loans, the largest sub category of assets, climbed 13 percent yearly to reach USD453.7 billion in January.


    On the liabilities side, deposits held at lenders in Turkey totaled USD435 billion, a rise of 26.3 percent during the same period.
