Dubai sees remarkable external trade growth in 2019

(MENAFN) In 2019, Dubai witnessed an external trade expansion driven by its efforts to attain its 2025 trade goal of Dh2 trillion; last year, the emirate's non-oil foreign trade increased 6 percent to stand at Dh1.37 trillion regardless of headwinds from an intensified international economic slump.

In comparison with Dh1.299 trillion in 2018, Dubai's external trade reached Dh1.371 trillion in 2019; exports increased 22 percent to Dh155 billion, re-exports climbed by 4 percent to Dh420 billion and imports grew by 3 percent to Dh796 billion.

Over the 2010-19 decade, the worth of Dubai's external trade increased by 52 percent due to the agility, adaptability and flexibility of the external trade sector in the emirate, which found alternative markets and trade paths to defeat slow expansion in some markets.

As said in a statement, "Dubai's strong foreign trade performance, which reflects its robust economic fundamentals and its resilience against odds, gave it a positive start to 2020 - the year of preparation for the next 50 years."
