    Unemployment rate in Turkey increases in 2019

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), in December 2019, Turkey's unemployment rate reached 13.7 percent; it said in a statement that, the figure was slightly up from the same month of the earlier year, increasing 0.2 percent.


    By the end of 2019, the amount of jobless aged 15 and over in Turkey arrived at 4.4 million an increase of 94,000 in comparison with November 2018.


    December's figure also climbed 0.4 percent every month while unemployment reached 13.3 percent in November last year; the unemployment rate in December was well more than the government's goal of 12.9 percent for 2019 under its economic program.


    Turkey's employment rate grew to 44.7 percent almost 28.17 million people in December 2019, an increase of 0.7 percent in comparison with December 2018.
