    Turkey's benchmark stock index increases 2.37 percent

    (MENAFN) On Friday, Turkey's benchmark stock index began the day at 87,217.14 points as it climbed 2.37 percent, or 2,021.75 points.


    Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped at Thursday's close by 0.45 percent at 85,195.39 points, with a daily trading volume of USD1.1 billion.


    Starting from 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, the USD/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.4970 versus 6.5360 at the earlier close and the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate reached 7.000, in comparison with 7.0620, and one British pound traded for 7.6110 Turkish liras; it was 7.6240 at the Thursday's close.


    Starting from 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday, 1 barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around USD29.46.
