Trade volume of UAE free zones grows to AED621.3 billion in 2019

(MENAFN) According to statistics issued by the Ministry of Finance, the trade volume of UAE free zones in 2019 increased to AED621.3 billion, which is a rise of 2.1 percent in comparison with AED608.3 billion in 2018.

Non-oil foreign trade from the UAE free zones plays a main role in diversifying the local economy, which explains the paramount interest directed by the UAE federal and local governments to establishing a robust, investment-conducive infrastructure across these zones whose trade volume accounted for 53.5 percent of UAE's total non-oil trade last year, which reached AED1.16 trillion.

The free zone imports totaled AED356.5 billion last year, which is a rise of 2.7 percent in comparison with 347 billion in 2018.

The exports grew to AED264.8 billion in 2019, an increase of 1.3 percent compared to AED261.3 billion in 2018.
