    Current account balance in Turkey posts deficit of nearly USD1.23 billion

    (MENAFN) Official figures showed that, Turkey"s recent account balance recorded a shortfall of almost USD1.23 billion in February.


    According to the Central Bank, the shortage was USD117 million in the same period in 2019; the bank's balance of payments figures showed Turkey's 12-month rolling surplus totaled USD6.13 billion.


    As said by the bank, "this development is mainly attributable to USD1.17 billion increase in the goods deficit recording net outflow of USD1.9 billion and USD222 million increase in primary income deficit to USD729 million".


    Turkey's recent account deficit recorded USD2.57 billion surplus in February 2020, which is a drop of USD658 million in the same month in 2019, as the data showed.
