Production of iron ore concentrate in Iran reaches 47.306 million tons

(MENAFN) According to citing the Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry data, production of iron ore concentrate in Iran stood at 47.306 million tons in the earlier Iranian calendar year, recording a four-percent increase in comparison with the previous year.

In 2019, 41.7 million tons of iron ore pellet was also produced, as showed in data regarding the output of main mineral production firms issued by the ministry.

In a bid to stop the exports of unprocessed minerals, making more value-added and meeting the needs of local producers for the raw materials, Iran has levied a 25-percent duty on the exports of raw minerals (especially iron ore) since September 23, last year.

The Industry Ministry thinks that the duty is going to encourage the production of more processed minerals like pellets and concentrate instead of selling the raw minerals.
