    Tourism revenue reaches USD4.1 billion: Turkey

    (MENAFN) According to statistical authority, Turkey's tourism profits stood at USD4.1 billion in January-March.

    As said by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the first quarter income dropped 11.4 percent in comparison with same period last year, amid worldwide travel restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak.

    TurkStat said that, "while 80.6% of this income (excluding GSM roaming and marina service expenditures) was obtained from foreign visitors, 19.4% was obtained from citizens resident abroad".

    The number of departing visitors also decreased 15 percent to 5.6 million during the same period, 82.2 percent foreign and 17.8 representing Turkish citizens residing abroad.
