    Turkey posts 2-percent-decline in March's industrial production

    (MENAFN) Based on the most recent figures released Thursday by the Turkish statistical authority, the country's manufacturing output reported a 2 percent reduction in March this year, on an annual basis.

    ِِAll of the three major sub-indices, mining and quarrying, production and energy, coal, steam and air conditioning, plunged in March by 5.6 percent, 1.9 percent and 0.9 percent each respectively, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced.

    Industrial output is considered a critical economic measure, as it is viewed as a tentative indicator of GDP growth.

    In the meantime, in March, the number dropped by 7.1 per cent compared to the previous month.

    In the EU, the gauge of industrial output was back, on an annual basis, by 11.8 per cent.
