    Turkey posts 8.9 percent increase in housing sales in January-April of 2020

    The statistical authority of Turkey said on Friday that the number of houses sold in the country has increased 8.9 percent in the period from January to April of the current year to set at 383,821.

    Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) showed that the mortgaged houses sales rose 141.4 percent in the period to set at 146,387 units.

    The data said that "And in other types of sales, it was 237,434 and decreased by 18.6%".

    The residential properties that were sold for the first time stood at 122,280 in the period, representing a decline of 16 percent as the sales of second hand houses stood at 261,541, reporting a rise of 26.4 percent.

    The housing sales to foreigners stood at 11,738 in the period, representing a decline of 12 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
