Iraqi PM demands support for his government formed at time of budgetary emptiness

(MENAFN) In an official letter issued on Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said that he had held his post in the ministry at a time when the Treasury was suffering from a severe shortage and even almost complete emptiness, if well described.

In a form of a published article, Baghdad Today newspaper cited al-Kadhimi as announcing "When I assumed responsibility I found only an almost empty treasury and an unenviable situation after 17 years of change."

On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi expressed that he took the oath of office even though treasury of the government was nearly empty. According to him, "Our sovereignty continued to be deficient, violated and doubted."

The minister further included that "The past period did not see any [effort to] upgrade vital sectors as the industry, investment, food self-sufficiency and others."

Al-Kadhimi also appealed to all Iraqi legislative coalitions to encourage his new government by agreeing to accept nominees for empty ministries.
