    Yearly wheat output in Iran over 14m tons

    The advisor to agriculture minister of Iran, Esmaeil Esfandiari-Pour, was quoted by the IRNA as saying that the wheat output of Iran is predicted to go over 14 million tons in the ongoing Iranian calendar year which is going to end on the 20th of March 2021.

    The official said that the wheat harvest was started in nine dry and hot provinces across the country, as the last amount of wheat that was bought was over 1.6 million tons.

    He said that the ministry has issued programs to increase the wheat output in the country in the ongoing year like implementing aid programs such as providing seed, pesticides, expert consultations, and technical supervision along with damage control.

    He said that more than six million land hectares in Iran have been planted with wheat, adding that "one-third of these lands are irrigated and the rest is rain-fed".
