    Libya to recieve USD6.5 million support funds from U.S.

    The United States Embassy to Libya announced on Monday that the government of the United States is going to grant USD6.5 million relief funds to Libya in order to help the country in its fight agianst the coronavirus.

    A statement released by the embassy said that "the U.S. government has committed an additional 6.5 million U.S. dollars in support of Libya's COVID-19 response, including helping municipalities formalize their crisis response functions, develop emergency management plans, train teams in Crisis Emergency Response".

    The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Libya stands at 156 so far, 52 recoveries among them along with five deaths, the National Center for Disease Control data showed.

    Authorities in Libya have increased protective measures in order to curb the spread of the virus such as shutting down the borders of the country, banning all public gatherings along with imposing a curfew and shutting down schools and mosques.
