Exports of Turkey reach USD10 billion in May

    (MENAFN)

Data released by the Turkish trade ministry on Tuesday showed that the exports of Turkey have reached USD10 billion in the current month of May due to the outbreak of coronavirus globally, representing a decline of 40.9 percent compared to the same month a year earlier.

Ruhsar Pekcan, the trade minister of the country, said that Turkey's exports increased 10.8 percent in May compared to a month earlier as they dropped compared to a year earlier over a decrease in the oversease demand, high base effects in the earlier 2019.

The official wrote on Twitter that "Turkey left the worst behind with the May export figures, recovery begins".

The imports of Turkey also saw a decline of 27.7 percent to reach a total of USD13.4 billion in the same cited period, according to the data.
